Phosphorus Removal
Blue Water Technologies have a patent pending process for removing Phosphorus from waste water plants using traditional reagents and a moving bed sand filter.
The Blue PRO™ process can remove phosphorus from wastewater streams to meet the most stringent permit limits. Typical applications are 1) in municipal wastewater plants as tertiary treatment for phosphorus removal and 2) in wastewater facilities at food processing plants for phosphorus removal. Blue PRO™ works on both high and low influent concentrations of phosphorus. Blue Water Technologies has piloted at multiple municipal waste water treatment plants and achieved P reduction to less than 60 ppb. The process also removes Mercury from waste water.
In addition to phosphorus and mercury, the Blue PRO™ process has been shown to significantly lower BOD and turbidity in wastewater streams. Blue PRO™ does not affect transmissivity for UV disinfection.
Arsenic Removal
Blue Water’s Blue PRO™ process efficiently removes arsenic from drinking water at high flow rates and low concentrations. Blue PRO™ has been shown to lower influent arsenic concentrations of 40 ppb to 3 ppb.
Nitrate Removal
The Blue NITE™ process is a modification of the Blue PRO™ process wherein a carbon source such as methanol is added upstream of the filter to stimulate denitrifying organisms to reduce levels of Nitrate down to 0.3 mg/l N. The denitrifying process can occur concurrently with the phosphorus removal in the same filter.
The Blue PRO™ and Blue NITE™process features the Centra-flo™ gravity sand filter
The Centra-flo gravity sand filter is a continuously cleaned type granular media filter and it is supplied in an up-flow configuration. The following graphic describes the main components of the filter. The filters are available in various materials of construction such as FRP and stainless steel. They are also available in concrete designs for which the internal components would be supplied by Blue Water Technologies Inc.
A typical application would be tertiary treatment of waste water treatment plant effluent providing filtration to remove suspended solids carried over the weirs on the sedimentation type clarifiers.
